The Executive Director holds the key senior management position reporting to the National President and is responsible for the day-to-day management, administration and operational integrity of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) in accordance with the PSAC Constitution and the strategic direction set by the governing bodies, including the PSAC Triennial Convention, the National Board of Directors (NBoD) and the Alliance Executive Committee (AEC).

Qualités requises: 

Education and Experience:

  • University degree in Business Administration or a related field
  • Extensive and progressive management and leadership experience within a values driven organization
  • Experience with political and operational inter-relationships within a unionized environment

 

Knowledge:

  • Expert knowledge of business, management, administrative, organizational development, human resources, financial and strategic planning principles, practices, strategies required to provide leadership, authoritative advice and direction to all levels of the organization
  • A thorough knowledge of the structure and objectives of the PSAC and the broader political, legislative and operational inter-relationships within a large national union organization and understanding of the sensitive political and social issues between an employer union and its internal bargaining agents
  • Specialized knowledge of labour relations principles

 

Abilities:

  • Ability to interpret, adapt and explain complex information and apply logical, analytical and strategic expertise to define and develop innovative solutions that will integrate with the operational plans
  • Exceptional capacity for managing and leading a diverse management team in a unionized environment as well as providing sound counsel
  • Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to think strategically and anticipate future trends to effectively build organizational capacity by leading the development and implementation of priority organizational projects, programs, processes and services
  • Great ability to organize and develop highly-effective team
  • Strong computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills in English and French
