Fonctions: 

The incumbent provides administrative and human resources related support to the Coordinator, to the HR Advisors and to the Human Resources Section as a whole. Provides related administrative services to PSAC’s Directors, Coordinators and employees in the delivery of integrated Human Resources programs, while carrying out a wide variety of administrative, secretarial and human resources related responsibilities.

Support to grievance administration

The incumbent assists the Senior HR Advisor / Labour Relations Officer with the administration of the grievance tracking process by assigning grievance numbers, opening files, determining referral deadlines, entering and tracking grievance process in database, filing, photocopying documents for arbitration cases, preparing routine correspondence and subpoena, assist with logistic for arbitration hearings and other meetings related to grievances; doing travel arrangements; upon request, prepare grievance report from database.

 

Qualités requises: 

Education and Experience:

  • Legal experience preferred;

  • The candidate for this position requires general administrative and secretarial knowledge and ability associated with successful completion of business and/or secretarial training, or equivalent, normally acquired through several years of experience in providing secretarial and administrative services relevant to the duties of the position.

    Knowledge:

  • Good knowledge of filing systems, both manual and computerized;

  • French and English written and oral communication skills are essential;

  • Good knowledge of the organization, functions, and policies of the PSAC;

    Abilities:

  • Ability to prepare draft letters and effectively type, transcribe and edit documents;

  • Proficiency in the use of a personal computer in a Windows XP environment, and more specifically demonstrated ability to work with Word (intermediate to advance level); Excel or other spreadsheet software (intermediate level); Access or other database software (intermediate to advanced level); and experience with an e-mail software;

  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English and French;

  • Ability to independently organize, plan and determine work priorities in order to meet strict deadlines, in an environment with multiple and competing priorities;

  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others, good interpersonal skills;

    Personal suitabilities:

  • High degree of initiative and good judgement;

  • Understanding and commitment to trade union and equity principles.
