Fonctions: 

Under the guidance of the Coordinator, Programs, the Health and Safety Officer provides political and program advice in the areas of health, safety and the environment to members, staff and elected officials.

Qualités requises: 

Education/Experience:

  • demonstrated working experience with health, safety and environmental plans and legislation in the workplace;
  • technical expertise in the appropriate legislation, policy and issues related to the broad field of health, safety and the environment.

Knowledge:

  • strong working knowledge of PSAC’s policies in regard to health, safety and environment, and also of the operations and structures of the relevant boards, agencies and organizations;
  • knowledge and experience in the development of health, safety and environmental policies procedures and practices, as well as in legislative review, research, presentation and writing;
  • very good knowledge of the organizational structure and management processes of the PSAC and its Components;
  • good computer skills and demonstrated knowledge of system applications;
  • demonstrated problem solving, consultative, persuasive, conflict resolution skills and excellent judgment to provide sound direction and advice on health, safety and environmental issues in the workplace to all levels of management and staff;
  • demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to be an effective team member to create an environment that nurtures the principles and values of the PSAC;
  • strong oral and written communication skills in English and French.

Abilities:

  • ability to interpret and apply policies, regulations, and collective agreements;
  • ability to work with confidential information.
